On June 10th, our neighbours enjoyed a picnic lunch at the Box Moor Trust Barn overlooking beautiful panoramic views of the Bulbourne Valley.
Boxmoor Good Neighbours in collaboration with the Box Moor Trust arranged a picnic lunch at the Barn, on the afternoon of June 10th.
The setting could not have been more perfect for our 12 neighbours, who, for the last year or more, have been adversely affected by the pandemic with restrictions to their normal way of life. We decided a picnic lunch in the fresh air would be an ideal way of bringing some relief to their situation.
The warm weather played its part, with a stunning view of the Bulbourne Valley as the backdrop for when our neighbours arrived. For some of our neighbours this has been their first outing in months.
Lunch boxes with an assortment of salmon, egg, cheese sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, home-baked cup cakes, lemon-drizzle cake were served together with tea, coffee and soft drinks. It was an afternoon in which our neighbours could enjoy having normal conversations in a very relaxed atmosphere.
The presence of our guest speaker Dennis Furnell, a trustee, naturalist, and broadcaster, who spoke about the valuable ecological work undertaken by the Box Moor Trust, made the afternoon programme complete.
Our neighbours thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon picnic as an unforgettable happy experience.
