Volunteers from Boxmoor Good Neighbours were involved in Hemel Hempstead Rotary’s Santa Sleigh last week in Bennetts End.
Here comes Santa and his sleigh! The much-loved Hemel Rotary Santa Sleigh has returned to the streets of Dacorum.
As well as spreading Christmas spirit, the Hemel Rotary Santa Sleigh also raises vital funds for local charities and organisations, with collections along the route and online at www.justgiving.com/campaign/HemelSanta2021.
The Rotary Santa Sleigh event started over four years ago and engages the support of local charities who deliver leaflets along the 25 routes and accompany the sleigh. Over £65,000 has been raised and distributed to 45 local charities since.
This year Boxmoor Good Neighbours have been invited by Hemel Rotary to help provide volunteers for their Santa Sleigh route in Bennetts End.
In addition to accompanying the Sleigh with bucket collectors on Wednesday November 24th BGN's volunteers distributed leaflets to the 1100+ properties in Bennetts End North prior to the day of Santa’s Sleigh's visit.
After an evening tour of Bennetts End North accompanying the Rotary’s Santa Sleigh, the team of volunteer bucket collectors from Boxmoor Good Neighbour sought a thoroughly deserved glass of refreshment at The Plough in Leverstock Green.
During the celebrations, Spencer, Chair of Boxmoor Good Neighbours presented The Golden Spatula Awards. This simple kitchen item makes 'leafleting' a cinch as it protects fingers from snappy letter boxes and snappy dogs.
The award to Sophie J was for 'leafleting' - prior to Santa's Sleigh visit, Sophie had delivered leaflets to the most properties.
The award to Denise B was for leading her team of money collectors.
The Santa Sleigh Achievement award went to Tony Burford who on behalf of the Hemel Hempstead Rotary, helped pioneer these Santa Sleigh events since 2016, which has helped raise over £65,000, distributed to 45 local charities.
Congratulations to everyone involved for their services to the community in Hemel Hempstead.
